Electric Vehicle Charging Station for Home & Apartments
As gas prices continue to rise and new laws are passed, Electric Vehicle adoption is a trend that will only continue to grow.
For many, the simple solution to skipping the pump is to install an EV charger in the garage of their house; however, not everyone lives in standalone houses. The "Electrical Revolution" creates a new challenge for Multi-Dwelling-Unit Residences such as apartment complexes, condos, townhomes, and other common interest communities.
How do I provide EV Charging Capabilities for myself or for my Tenants?
Urban charging is arguably one of the biggest hurdles for EV adoption
Demand Charge Controllers
Demand Charge Controllers (DCC) can be installed between a unit’s meter and electric panel to divert some of the power to a charging station, while monitoring the electricity consumption of the panel to prevent exceeding its limit. If the DCC unit detects that the power usage exceeds 80%, it automatically cuts power to the charging station.
This enables tenants and or property owners to utilize 30 to 60 Amp level 2 chargers for efficient charging without overloading the panel inside their unit. DCC allows EV charging in condos / multi-unit dwellings and gives the property owner a way to conveniently charge their EV without tapping into the common energy supply. All electricity consumed is directly billed onto the private meter. This also allows the EV driver to charge at the cheapest residential electrical rates to further increase the savings compared to gasoline vehicles. DCC is a patented product which allows homeowners, condo owners and business owners to install EV chargers without having to upgrade their existing service. DCC Electric Vehicle Energy Management Systems make EV charging available to virtually anyone.
