Why The CountyMatters.
An EV charger install is an electrical permit, and electrical permits are issued locally. Los Angeles city, Los Angeles county and each incorporated city inside it run their own plan check with their own queue and their own fee schedule.
On top of that sits the utility. A service upgrade in LADWP territory follows a different process and a different timeline from the same upgrade under Southern California Edison, and neither is quick if the paperwork goes in wrong.
